#1662 - Pre-Columbian Southwestern Jar

#1662 - Pre-Columbian Southwestern Jar

$550.00Price

Description - This flared short-necked and round-bottom jar has huge amounts of patina. The jar is 5.5" tall x 6.4" diameter. Orange ochre paint covers the exterior of the jar. It is decorated with a tan paint as shown in the photos. There are 6 indented fluted channels that run upwards to the flared neck. On each side of the jar are petroglyphs in the style of some found on Atlatl Rock in Nevada. Those were created by the Basketmaker people, ancestors of the Puebloans who inhabited the region over 1,000 years ago. The mineralization and patina create a magnificent pre-Columbian example of Southwestern culture.
